SAN FRANCISCO, October 15, (THEWILL) – Leader of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has accused the Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko (Labour Party) of betrayal, saying that the governor abandoned the party after it helped him actualized the governorship mandate of that State.

Tinubu was speaking yesterday in a town hall meeting with party supporters in Ikorodu, Lagos State, where he sounded a warning to Mimiko popularly referred to as the Iroko, that the ACN was poised to win the next governorship election in the state.

"Mimiko must be hatched and pulled down for betrayal. He has betrayed our political trust. The Iroko has betrayed us so we must hack and pull it down," Tinubu was quoted to have said.

Though Tinubu did not describe how Mimiko betrayed the ACN, a source familiar with the feud between Tinubu and Mimiko told THEWILL that Tinubu had assumed that Mimiko would join the ACN alongside his supporters and also make funds available to the former Lagos State Governor and his political party, after the Court of Appeal installed him Governor of Ondo State.

But reacting to Tinubu’s outburst, the Ondo State Commissioner of Information and Strategy, Mr. Kayode Akinmade dismissed the threat saying that indigenes of Ondo State would choose their governor in the 2012 governorship race and warned that no ‘foreign god’ can determine the outcome of that election.
