Bomber Killed While Targeting Maiduguri Police Command
SAN FRANCISCO, August 15, (THEWILL) - An apparent suicide bomber driving a Honda sedan loaded with about 7 cylinders and other explosives was shot and killed on Monday morning inside the headquarters of the Borno State Police Command in Maiduguri after he rammed his vehicle into the police compound, THEWILL can report.
The identity of the failed suicide bomber has not been made public.
Police say the suspected bomber forced his way into the compound through the gate and may have planned to remotely detonate the bomb in the vehicle.
THEWILL gathered that the incident occurred just as recruitment of cadets into the police was being conducted next door..
Recall that the notorious radical Islamic group Boko Haram has claimed responsibility for a series of attacks including the bomb attack on the Police Force headquarters in Abuja in June, this year.
A report on the activities of the group is expected to be submitted to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on Tuesday.
