Otunba Runsewe, NTDC Director General,Suspended
It is hard to believe, but it is true. The long-running schism between the Director General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Corporation (NTDC) and the Board of Directors seems to have reached the point of no-return. The NTDC Director General, Otunba Olusegun Runsewe, was yesterday, Thursday, August 11, suspended from office for willful insubordination and habitual indiscipline.
A very laconic suspension letter signed by the NTDC Board chairman, Hon. Uche Anya, said Runsewe was suspended for his refusal to implement the resolutions and decisions of the board. The letter read: 'Following your willful refusal to implement the resolutions and decisions made by the Governing Board of NTDC at its duly constituted board meeting of the 4th day of August 2010, the board hereby suspends you from office forthwith pending the completion of investigation by the appropriate authority over your several acts of indiscipline, gross misconducts, contemptuous disregard of board resolutions duly endorsed to you and flagrant violations of the law setting up NTDC.
'The Board takes serious exception to your refusal to implement the Board's Resolutions including the resolution terminating your illegal appointments of three contract Directors and other contract employees one year after.' 'Meanwhile you are to hand over to the most senior Director in the parastatal,' the letter concluded.
