ACTIVIST RUBBISHES ORUBEBE'S CLAIMS ON AMNESTY

By NBF News

A Niger Delta activist,   Mr. Frank Akiefa, has said that claims by the Niger Delta Minister, Elder Godsday Orubebe on his contributions to end  militancy and acceptance of amnesty by youths of the region were mere window dressing.

Akiefa, in his reaction to Elder Orubebe's comments in the media on his contributions to amnesty programme, said the claims were not enough for him to state before the Senate, during his screening, that he played a major role in the amnesty programme.

He wondered what the Minister had done for the creeks and youths of the long neglected region despite claims to have served on various presidential committees and visiting the creeks.

Akiefa said Orubebe should not lay claims to the efforts of persons who worked with their blood to secure peace in the region. He listed such persons as Mr. Kingsley Kuku, Special Adviser to the President on Niger Delta; Mr. Timi Alaibe; Dr. Chris Ekiyor, among others, who had not boosted of their efforts.

He insisted that the Niger Delta Minister's claims before the Senate were not true as the presidential committees he served on did not provide the blueprint for the amnesty programme.
