CALABAR, June 22, (THEWILL) - The Cross River State Governor, Senator Liyel Imoke has described the appointment of former Senate President, Senator Anyim Pius Anyim as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) as a deliberate move by President Goodluck Jonathan to accelerate the actualization of the Transformation Agenda of his administration for the overall benefit of Nigerians.

Senator Imoke, who spoke in Abuja, Tuesday, when he paid a congratulatory visit to Senator Anyim in his office said being an experienced Public Officer, he is convinced the new SGF would bring his wealth of experience to bear in driving the developmental programmes of the Federal Government, adding that a lot of responsibilities have been thrust on his shoulders, which he is convinced the distinguished Senator would strive to justify the confidence so reposed in him.

The Governor conveyed the good wishes of the Government and people of Cross River State to Senator Anyim, noting that his choice could best be described as a square peg in a square hole and prayed God Almighty to guide and direct the Secretary to the Government of the Federation to succeed in the onerous task that lies ahead.


Responding, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Senator Anyim Pius Anyim commended Governor Imoke for the visit, assuring that he will justify the confidence reposed in him by the President.


The SGF lauded the people oriented administration of Governor Imoke, which he emphasized is impacting positively on good governance and infrastructural provisions, adding that this style of governance is not only taking governance to the door steps of the people of Cross River State, who need it most, but also taking the State to greater heights among the comity of States in Nigeria.


The SGF solicited for support and cooperation of all Nigerians, especially the Political Class to guarantee the success of the transformation initiatives of President Goodluck Jonathan, which he maintained will affect every facet of the nation’s development.
