ABEOKUTA, April 05, (THEWILL) - Governor of Ogun State, Otunba Gbenga Daniel has declared that he was not in an alliance meeting with former governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu, who is the leader of Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) following the rescheduled general elections.

Ogun Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Mr. Sina Awonise in a statement to journalists in Abeokuta today said that the claim that Daniel held a meeting with Tinubu was absolute falsehood.

He said the truth was that both Daniel and Tinubu have not been in any meeting together in the last few years, stating that “any claim that Daniel met Tinubu to reach an accord between the Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN) and the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) to work together in the forthcoming election is false in its entirety.”

He also stated that results from the botched National Assembly election last Saturday put the PPN ahead of other parties in the state adding that the talk that the leading party was stepping down for another party trailing it does not add up.

“This claim is propaganda at its worse form. The citizen is thus enjoined to be wary of the propaganda and falsehood of desperate politicians who are determined to deceive the people in order to steal their mandate,” the Commissioner stated.

He added that the governor urged voters in the state, who trooped out last Saturday to vote for PPN and its candidates to do so again on Saturday by ensuring the continuity of good governance, progress and a better future for our children.

Meanwhile, the leadership of the Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN) has commended residents of the state and its teeming supporters for their large turnout, perseverance, good conduct and support for the Peoples Party of Nigeria (PPN) last Saturday.

According to its Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Raheem Ajayi, “It is noteworthy that the massive turnout and the voting pattern while the exercise lasted before the postponement is a great encouragement for the Party and our candidates because a victory tone has been set.”

“The reality has finally dawned on our opponents that concocted lies and fabrications can never sway the good people of Ogun State from embracing the PPN as the party of choice”, and urged residents to sustain their support for the party and come out again next Saturday.
