DUTSE, Feb 28, (THEWILL) - The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) Monday pledged to use its human and material resources to affect a new brand of leadership in the country by ‘flushing out the corrupt government of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the April general elections.’

National Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande, who stated this at the flag off of its North West Presidential zonal campaign in Dutse, the Jigawa State capital, said for the past 12 years Nigerians have been going through tortuous pains through the misrule of the PDP.

Akande expressed the hope that with the combined efforts of the party’s Presidential flag bearer, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, renowned for fighting corruption, with that of his deputy, Mr. Fola Adeola, who is an economic expert, they will rescue the country out of the economic woes the ruling party has plunged it in the past 12 years.

According to him, over 20 million youths in the country are presently unemployed and are compelled to roam the streets without any future, which he said the ACN is poised to reverse by creating employment opportunities for them.

With the slogan: ‘Sai Ribadu, Sai Ribadu, the Chairman of the party, Chief Bisi Akande handed the party’s Presidential flag to Nuhu Ribadu and his running mate, Fola Adeola, amid thunderous ovation from the thousands of party supporters that besieged the Aminu Kano Triangular square in Dutse.

He also pleaded with the country’s electorate to protect and use their votes wisely during the exercise and ensure that Nigerians with credibility and leadership qualities are given the chance to emerge as new leaders in April.

Akande noted that monstrous the leadership of the PDP for about 12 years has left the country in appalling situation with unemployment, poverty, and hardship consistently high, pointing out that it is the determination of the ACN to ensure that all these negative tendency impeding national development end with the exit of the PDP government in the next dispensation.

In the words of Akande, “I bring to you the victory of Nigeria through a new brand of leadership today in Jigwa, in Dutse, in response to the problems created in the country by the PDP over the years which has to do with corruption, insecurity, unemployment, and general pains to the Nigerian people.

“We have been pondering as leaders over these problems and we are convinced we have the answer but waiting for the opportunity to be in control. We have the materials in Nuhu Ribadu, our Presidential candidate who spent greater part of his career fighting corruption, we also have the resources in terms of knowledge to do battle with all these vices in the person of the Vice Presidential candidate, Fola Adeola who is a renowned economist.”

In their brief remarks, Ribadu and his running mate, Adeola corroborated the remarks of the party leader promising to do their best to lead Nigeria out of the woods, “we will lead with the fear of God if we are given the chance,” Ribadu promised, while his running mate, Adeola promised that they will focus on those aspects of life that provide gainful employment to the Nigerian people.

ACN National leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stated that the party has assembled a new team of technocrats that will wrest power from the PDP which has put the country in perpetual poverty and black out.

Asiwaju maintained that the ACN government, which has restored hope in Lagos, Edo State, Osun State and Ekiti states will reenact the same feat nation-wide, and therefore called on the people of the North West zone to vote massively for the ACN in the April polls to enable the party evenly spread the dividends of democracy to all nooks and crannies of the country.

“Today is a great day for Nigeria and Jigawa state in particular. We bring to you a fresh hope, such that will change the lives of the people positively and wipe their tears of sorrow. Today, we shall see Ribadu and Adeola as a new hope for better Nigeria as these two men will send packing, the government of greed and dictatorship as well as lack of focus.

“We promise that we will change the government that believes only in rigging and we will not give them the chance to perpetuate rigging any longer; and when the ACN forms government, we will carry out reforms in all aspects of our national life, including the police, education sector as well as provide all other necessities of lives, including the agricultural sector.”
