NSF: OGUN, LAGOS TO REPRESENT ZONE IN BALL GAMES

The Ogun State women's football team will represent the National Sports Commission Zone I at 2011 17th National Sports Festival in February in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

The team booked a place at the national sports fiesta after winning a protest with three points and three goals over Lagos on Saturday.

They had accused the Lagos of fielding ineligible players at the zonal elimination which they won 3-1 in the match at the Gateway Stadium, Sagamu.

The Ogun women topped the group ahead of Lagos with four points having played a goalless draw with Oyo which also lost to Lagos.

Ogun men's team, however, crashed out after losing 4-1 to the zone's eventual winner, Oyo State.

Ogun men's hockey team secured a berth at the festival, tagged 'Garden City Games'' after a goalless draw with Oyo and defeating Lagos 1-0 in Abeokuta.

The state's women's hockey team did not get a ticket to the Games having lost 0-1 to Lagos and 0-2 Oyo.

Ogun also qualified to represent the zone in the men's volleyball. They defeated the Lagos team in a three straight sets and losing to Oyo 2-3.

Lagos women's volleyball team also qualified after beating the hosts, Ogun and Oyo in three straight sets each.
