Attempt by government to avert strike by organized labor has failed. The parley between President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and leaders of the organised labour ended with labor leaders maintaining that the warning strike continues today.
Our checks reveal that the meeting which kicked off at about 9.00pm, at the banquet hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja lasted for an hour.
Responding to questions from correspondent s , after the meeting, Mr.Peter Esele, President of the Trade Union congress (TUC) and Comrade Promise Adewusi, acting president of the Nigeria Labor Congress (NLC) said despite the meeting, they were still going on strike.
They said they will report back to their respective organs and make the decision of the meeting with Jonathan known to the public.
Meanwhile, the labor leaders said the strike will continue until 3.00pm on Wednesday when a collective decision would be taken by the different labor organs.
