2011: DECLARE NOW, GROUP TELLS JONATHAN

By NBF News

Following last week's resolution of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Executive Committee (NEC) that all members of the party were free to contest for the PDP presidential ticket, a group, the Goodluck Nigeria Group (GNG) has urged President Jonathan to immediately declare his interest to take part in the election.

It also praised his handling of the nation's affairs since becoming president over a 100 days ago and commended him for his ability in stabilizing the Nigerian polity at a time cynics gave him very little chance.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Femi Musa, and made available to journalists at the weekend in Abuja, the group stated that its call for President Jonathan to declare his intention to participate in the race was imperative because the PDP has given him the go ahead.

'We therefore use this opportunity to call on our dear President, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan to formally declare his intention to contest the 2011 presidential election. 'This is because the coast is now clear after the very exhaustive and elaborate consultations with all relevant stakeholders in Nigeria.'

Goodluck Nigeria Group which observed that the ability of President Jonathan to stabilize the country should be appreciated by Nigerians commended him for the numerous steps he had taken since his assumption of office especially the appointment of Prof. Attahiru Jega as the national chairman.
