ABUJA, August 04, (THEWILL) - The Federal Executive Council (FEC) today approved the production of a compendium to highlight Nigeria’s history, achievements and challenges since independence and it will cost N250 Million, Information and Communications Minister, Professor Dora Akunyili told State House Correspondents, Wednesday in Abuja.


Akunyili said that the N250 million is for the production of 20,000 copies of 800 pages and 5,000 copies of CD ROM of a compedium.


She said the production would form part of the 50th Independence Anniversary. The country became independent on Oct. 1, 1960.


"The documentary will feature the ‘nation’s aspirations, photographs on achievements in various sectors of the economy, areas of tourist attraction, art and culture, historical monuments and achievements of Nigerians in Diaspora.’

Akunyili said the compendium was part of the mandate of the steering committee of ‘Nigeria at 50’, to arrange and execute programmes for a befitting golden jubilee independence anniversary.


The meeting was presided over by President Goodluck Jonathan.
