WHITE BABY CONTROVERSY: THE CHILD MAY BE ALBINO – IKEDIFE

By NBF News

For the past few days, the news of a Nigerian couple in the United States of America who gave birth to a white baby has been a subject of controversy. Many people find it mysterious; some doubt the possibility while others believe that God can do anything.

Immediate past President-General of Ohaneze Ndi Igbo, Chief Dozie Ikedife, in a telephone chat with Sunday Sun said if the baby were his grand child, he would first of all find out if the child is an albino because there are many of them around.

Ikedife, a medical doctor while reacting to insinuation that because the child has blue eyes, it is certain that the baby is of white stock said: 'I will first find out if the child is an albino. The blue eyes are not enough for anyone to conclude that the baby is white. The blue eye may be a sign of medical condition, which has the tendency for breaking bones.

'You don't just start shouting because of the colour of the child as he or she could be an albino. There are many albinos out there.

'I would have to look critically at such features as the colour of the skin, the position of the nose and other things.

'They could also go for DNA test to determine what happens before I can take any decision on that.'

Also speaking on the same subject, the founder and leader of Odua Peoples' Congress (OPC), Dr Fredrick Fasehun said: 'The level of medical information and knowledge available to me will determine what my reaction would be.'

But for the former governor of old Kaduna State, Alhaji Balarabe Musa, the matter would be better left in the hands of Almighty God who created the white and the Blackman.

He said: 'I would leave everything to God because He can do anything. Nothing is impossible for God.'
