Ebonyi people have been called upon to give support to the politics of development of the Ebonyi state, Governor Martin Elechi. The Senator representing Ebonyi South Senatorial Zone, Mr. Anyim Ude, while addressing the people of Akaeze community in Ivo Local Government Area during a PDP stakeholders meeting, advised that politics of development should be the primary objective of any Nigerian politician instead of politics of violence.

He stressed that any politician who indulged in violence to kill and maim people to get elected to positions would himself be killed and urged the people to avoid such a politician.

Ude frowned at youths who allowed themselves to be recruited by politicians to carry out such dastardly acts and warned that any politician who wasted human lives should know that their own lives would also be wasted.

He swore not to relent in his campaign against politics of violence and expressed worry over the crisis in his Ivo local government area where there has been crisis over the last local government primaries of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He also urged the people to support Governor Martin Elechi who he described as a peace maker and seeker who had resolved several communal crises.

Ude charged the people to tell other communities in the state that violence did not exist in Akaeze community.

He disclosed that projects worth over N2 billion had been attracted to the community where several projects were going on as well as in other areas in the zone. He cited Abakaliki-Afikpo Road which had received additional budgetary allocation.

He also disclosed that fund had been committed to other ongoing projects in the zone such as the Okposi water project that was abandoned since 2001, Afikpo and Akaeze water projects and Oso Edda water scheme where over N150 million had been committed. Also another N300 million committed to electricity project in the area where Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) would be constructing a sub-station at Amasiri.

The coordinator of Akaeze Development Centre, Mr. Joseph Obasi, in his address, reminded the people that the decision of PDP should always be obeyed. He urged them to be loyal to the administration of Gov. Martin Elechi and PDP, adding, 'we have done a good number of things to assist the people.

This is because the community is an agrarian community; we do all we can to see that our people sell what they provide from their farms. Before now we have terrible area as market and we went into construction of market stalls where over 35 lock up shops were constructed and commissioned.'
