ABUJA, June 23, (THEWILL) - The House of Representatives today ordered the withdrawal of the senate version of the constitutional amendments sent to the states House of Assembly for endorsement alleging that the documents are fake and not a replica of what they sent.

Senate President David Mark in an elaborate gathering the week penultimate submitted copies of the amended Constitution to the 36 state houses of assemblies in Abuja.

But in a dramatic move today in Abuja, the speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dimeji Bankole, ordered the clerk of National Assembly, Alhaji Maikasuwa to immediately withdraw the submitted copies and avail them the authentic copies of the harmonized amended constitution.

The House took the decision at today’s plenary as indications emerged that copies of the amended constitution earlier forwarded to all the State Houses of Assembly were not the synchronized copies signed by both the Senate and the House but the Senate adaptation of the document.

Hon. Ita Enang, Chairman of the committee on Rules and Business, pointed out the anomaly at today’s sitting stating tha only the Senate version was submitted to the States, adding that it was a misnomer for the State Houses of Assembly to apply on the Senate version of the amended constitution instead of the synchronized copies dully signed by both the Senate and House members.
