COURT GRANTS BOKO HARAM SUSPECTS BAIL

A Maiduguri High Court has granted bail to five Boko Haram suspects who were standing trial for their alleged participation in the sectarian violence that claimed many lives and property in Borno and some neighbouring states last July.

The five men, Kashim Imam, Mohammed Dalhatu, Alhaji Adamu, Alhaji Musa and Mohammed Usman, were among the 100 suspects currently being held at the Maiduguri Maximum Prison for allegedly participating in the crisis.

The suspects were arrested at various locations in the state after the sectarian crisis and were arraigned on 10-count charge of criminal conspiracy , joint act, inciting disturbance, membership of unlawful assembly and joint assembly armed with deadly weapons.

Other charges preferred against them were voluntarily causing grievous hurt to deter public servant from his duty, mischief committed after preparation made for causing death or grievous hurt as well as mischief by fire.
