By NBF News

A former governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party in Ekiti State, Chief Yinka Akerele, on Friday said he will contest the governorship election in the state in 2011.

Akerele who contested and lost the PDP governorship primary election in 2006 to the incumbent governor, Segun Oni, said that he was ready to contest the election again on the platform of the PDP.

He said this in a letter of intent sent to the Chairman of the PDP in Ekiti State and a copy of the letter was made available to our correspondent in Ado-Ekiti on Friday.

The letter addressed to the PDP chairman read, 'I write to congratulate you, and the central working committee and the entire members of our great party, Peoples Democratic Party on our victory at the Ekiti State Election Petition Tribunal. It is indeed a victory well deserved.

'However, I wish to also inform you and the entire members of the Central Working Committee of my intention to contest the forthcoming gubernatorial election. It is needless introducing myself to the party as I believe, I am sufficiently known in the party, having contested the 2006 governorship primaries of our party,' he added.
