EFCC storms her Abuja residence
The immediate-past Minister of Petroleum Resources, Diezani Alison-Madueke,  arrested in London, UK, on Friday, by the newly formed International Corruption Unit (ICU) of the country's National Crimes Agency.

The agency announced on its website on Friday that it had arrested five people “across London” as part of an investigation into suspected bribery and money laundering offences but stopped short of naming the suspects.

The operations it was gathered were being coordinated with several international agencies because of the “sensitive” nature of the investigation.

Meanwhile,  the former minister’s residence in push the Asokoro District, Abuja was invaded the same Friday by  the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission sniffing around for evidence, in what has been described as part of a multinational investigation of the former minister.

Reports cite a senior security official as saying that the operation in her residence yielded vital documents that will assist in the prosecution of the former minister.

“The raid on her Asokoro residence today (Friday) yielded vital information that will help in the prosecution of the case,” the source said.

She oversaw the powerful ministry in the past administration of President Goodluck Jonathan, and has been perceived have indulged in opaque transactions during her tenure.

Former Central Bank of Nigeria governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi had alleged that over 2o billion dollars was siphoned off the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation during tenure as minister i n charge of the sector.
