Carlos Tevez has apologised to Ezequiel Ham after breaking his leg in a tackle during an Argentine Primera Division game on Saturday.

The former Manchester United and Manchester City star made forceful contact with Ham’s right shin in a 50-50 challenge during Boca Juniors’ victory over Argentinos Junior.

The impact caused an horrific break of Ham’s leg and he was stretchered off in some distress.

evez, who joined Boca from Juventus this summer, went unpunished for the challenge and scored twice in the 3-1 win

But he said: “It makes me angry because I went for the ball. It was neither malicious nor my intention to hurt him.

“The touch told me I’d done something wrong. I’m sad because I didn’t want to do anything bad to him. I’ve never hurt anyone, this is my first time.

“Now I’m going to see him and apologise, as I should do.”

Argentinos coach Nestor Gorosito told his club’s website that “those who have played football know” there must have been some intention to hurt the player.

He said: “It wasn’t unintentional. We were three metres from the incident and you could see it. Those who have played football know these things.”
