Coasting To Victory

By Solomon Okocha

All is now clear for Dr. Dakuku Peterside and his team to commence forensic analysis on electoral materials that were used for the April 11, 2015, Gubernatorial Elections in Rivers State.

The Rivers State Elections Petitions Tribunal ruled that the ruling which Dakuku and APC sought through their new application has already been granted, and therefore the application constitutes abuse of court process. The earlier ruling for inspection of materials subsists. That the Tribunal Order of 12th June, 2015, which I have before me here and now states:

''That the 1st Respondent (INEC) is hereby directed to allow the Petitioners/Applicants personally and or through their agents including their Solicitors and Forensic Experts to INSPECT, COPY, PHOTOCOPY & OBTAIN certified true copies of all Electoral materials related to or in connection with the conduct of the Rivers State Governorship election held on 11th and 12th days of April, 2015......''

Recall that the Petitioners filed an application on the1st Respondent to give them leave to inspect, scan and allow biometric experts to report findings to the Rivers State Elections Petitions Tribunal sitting in Abuja.

Finally, the case has been adjourned to Thursday, September 3, 2015, for hearing.

As the Court pleases.
