Two Notorious Kidnappers, Woman Detained In Ekiti

SAN FRANCISCO, May 26, (THEWILL) –  Two notorious kidnappers and the wife of the head of the gang that has been terrorizing residents of Ekiti State have been detained by the Police.

Ekiti Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose in a state broadcast, noted that one Olumide, 31 and one Folorunsho both from Esure-Ekiti were arrested between Ikere and Iju while trying to flee the state.

A statement by the governor's spokesman, said the wife of the leader of the kidnappers identified as Austin, was also detained, while a manhunt has been launched for the other gang members who are believed to hail from Benin and its environs in Edo State.

Governor Fayose who noted that the three people who accommodated them were also arrested, said his government is planning to enact a law that will empower the police to arrest landlords of criminals in the state and prosecute them and also demolish such buildings accommodating them.

He emphasized government's N2m reward to anyone one who provides useful information on robbers and kidnappers in the state, saying his administration will do everything to rid the state of men of the underworld.
