We will task ourselves to revive bombed Tao FM – Abatemi-Usman

The Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District in the Red Chamber, Nurudeen Abatemi-Usman, has said that the entire people of Ebirland will leave no stone unturned to bring back to life the recently bombed popular community radio station, Tao FM, located in Kuroko, Adavi Local Government Area of Kogi State.

A statement signed by Michael Jegede, the Senator’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, indicated that Abatemi-Usman made the remark while formally notifying his fellow lawmakers of the bombing of the only functional media outfit in his constituency for outright condemnation on the floor of the Senate.

The Senator flayed the horrific attack on Tao FM, founded by Dr. Tom Adaba, the renowned and highly revered broadcaster and former Director General (DG) of National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), noting that the radio station has become the strong voice of unity of Ebira people and would never be allowed to die.

“The bombed Tao FM is a radio station that is so dear to us as a people in Ebiraland. Any attempt to bring down the station is obviously an attempt to silence Ebira people. But I must say that we can never be silenced as a people, just like we were never conquered in history as a people. Therefore, we the people of Ebiraland will task ourselves to bring the station back alive,” Abatemi-Usman said.

The Senator who had sympathized with the management and staff of the media house and prayed God to grant the family of the four dead persons the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss, stressed the need for effort to be intensified to arrest the problem of insecurity.

The ugly incident occurred last week when some unknown assailants invaded the premises of the radio firm under the pretence of coming for advert booking.
