BEVERLY HILLS, May 06, (THEWILL) – Malam Sanusi Lamido Ado Bayero on Wednesday assumed duty in Lagos as the new Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority.

He took over from the former managing director, Malam Habib Abdullahi at a brief handover ceremony at the NPA headquarters office in Marina.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that Bayero was appointed as the new Managing Director of the Authority on April 29.

In a brief address, the new managing director said he hoped to work at his best with the staff for the benefit of the nation.

“I hope we work together for the interest of the country because I know that anything that affects this place will affect the larger society.

“We will put in efforts to undertake programmes that will grow the authority through togetherness.

“I solicit for your support; I wish the out-going the best. We will always consult because it is good to consult someone who has been there,” he said.

He thanked President Goodluck Jonathan for the appointment.

In his address the out-going managing director described Ado Bayero as a friend and a brother and pledged his willingness to support him.

He also urged the staff of the Authority to extend the same support he enjoyed to the new managing director for the benefit and growth of the NPA.
