SINGAPORE, Singapore, April 6, 2015/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong has written a letter to President of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta to convey his condolences on the attack at Garissa University on 2 April 2015. The text of Prime Minister Lee's letter is as follows:

Condolence Letter from Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong

[Dear President Kenyatta]

On behalf of the Government of Singapore, I offer my deepest condolences on the terror attack at Garissa University in Kenya on 2 April 2015. I was shocked and saddened to learn that many of the 147 victims killed were young university students.

Singapore strongly condemns this dastardly act of terror which has claimed so many innocent lives. It is a stark reminder of the danger that terrorism poses to societies all over the world, and that the international community must remain steadfast in our efforts to counter terrorism.

I am confident that Kenyans will overcome this latest incident with fortitude. Our thoughts are with you and your people during this difficult time.

[Yours sincerely]

LEE HSIEN LOONG

His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta

President

Republic of Kenya
