BEVERLY HILLS, April 04, (THEWILL) – No fewer than five fishermen were killed Saturday morning as rampaging Boko Haram gunmen stormed Kayamla, a village in Konduga local government area of Borno state, situated a few kilometers from Maiduguri, the capital city.

The insurgents were however later repelled by the youth vigilante group in the area after they had destroyed parts of the village .

A member of the youth vigilante group, Ibrahim Aji, told THEWILL that the insurgents, who caught everyone in the village unaware, “came just like thieves at night and shot sporadically into the air, torching some houses and killed five persons.”

According to Aji, when the youth regrouped to take on the insurgents, they escaped back into the bushes.
