SAN FRANCISCO, January 29, (THEWILL) – In what appears to be a direct lampoon on those alleging that President Goodluck Jonathan has been going about with sponsors of Boko Haram, the President, Thursday in Yola, the Adamawa State capital, declared that he has no dealings with such people.

Declaring that only a mad man will finger him as being behind the Boko Haram insurgency in the Northeast, President Jonathan, who was in Yola for his presidential campaign rally, said “Only a mad person can bring terror to his people and only mad person can insinuate that the president is supporting Boko Haram.”

Speaking at the rally which held at the Ribadu Square, Yola , the president hit back at his accusers, insisting that only a mad person will accuse him of executing such an inhuman and barbaric act on his people who voted for him en-masse in the last presidential election.

Still declaring his innocence, Jonathan said he has no reason to sponsor the killing of his own people, stressing that during the last election, he secured more than 65 percent of the vote cast in Adamawa State which doubled the votes he got from Bayelsa, his home state.

According to President Jonathan, “In 2011 I had two times the number of votes I had in Bayelsa State why should I want to reduce that number of votes?”

The president also promised to totally liberate Adamawa from the clutches of the Boko Haram insurgents.

He commiserated with the residents of the state of the deaths and destructions caused by the Boko Haram, saying government has initiated some palliative measures such as the save schools initiative, victims support funds and other measures to cushion the suffering the victims are going through.

The president urged voters in the state to vote massively for the PDP gubernatorial candidate, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu and other candidates of the party at the poll.
