Rivers PDP Accuses APC Of Sponsoring Attack On Wike’s Campaign Team

By Rivers State PDP

The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP says the All Progressives Congress, APC Governorship Candidate in the State, Hon Dakuku Peterside, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of Abua/Odual Local Government Council and the immediate past Executive Chairman of the Council, Udi Udom were responsible for the attack unleashed on the campaign team of its Governorship Standard bearer, Chief Barr Nyesom Wike Thursday, January 15, 2015 while on campaign tour of the area.

In a strong worded statement by the State Party chairman, Bro Felix Obuah and signed by his Special Adviser on Media, Jerry Needam, the PDP said evidence abound that the gun men were specifically directed to disrupt the PDP campaign rally, stressing that prior to the attack, the APC supporters had exhibited acts of rascality and violence against its supporters across communities in Abolga.

Occurring in less than 24 hours after a non-violence pact were signed by all political parties in Abuja, the PDP chairman said it's now clear that the APC was only pretending because it has never believed in free and fair elections.

Prince Obuah further queried how the immediate past chairman of Abolga, Udi Udom knew those behind the violence were cult members belonging to Icelanders and Greenlanders as he publicly claimed on radio about two hours after the incident if he was not the mastermind of the attack and what he did to forestall the unfortunate incident.

He therefore enjoins the police and other law enforcement agencies to beam their searchlight on Mr Udom and his cohorts in the APC, and also demand that Mr Udom and others be invited by the Police for interrogation over the attack on Chief Wike's campaign team and ensure that all those involved are fished out and brought to book.

Meanwhile, the party chairman has reassured its teeming supporters in Abua/Odual Local Government Area not to be intimidated by the APC's rascality and to remain steadfast in their support for the PDP, noting that the harassment is only transient.
