Rivers PDP Commends Ibinabo Michael-West for Showing Spirit of Sportsmanship

By Rivers State PDP

The Chairman of the Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Bro. Felix Obuah has commended Hon. Ibinabo Michael-West, a Governorship aspirant on the platform of the PDP in the just concluded primaries for his understanding and courage to collapse his structure into that of the Governorship candidate of the party, Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike.

In a statement from the office of the State Party Chairman, signed by Jerry Needam, his Special Adviser on Media, Prince Obuah said Hon. Ibinabo Michael-West has by this singular act, shown he is a genuine and committed party member who places party interest above self.

Describing Hon. Michael-West's understanding and support for the party and Chief Wike as true display of spirit of sportsmanship which every committed politician and party man should imbibe, the chairman called on all other former aspirants to do same since the party cannot present more than one candidate for the office of Governor.

According to Prince Obuah, the PDP still offers better protection and opportunities for all members than have them decamp to other parties, stressing that even a good number of the All Progressives Congress, APC members have seen reason to come back to the PDP..

The PDP, he said remains open to all genuine members to come back to its fold where every member is treated equally irrespective of ethnic or social class.

“On this note therefore, we wish to thank Hon. Ibinabo Michael-West for his foresight and taking such a bold step to queue behind Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike alongside his hundreds of thousands of supporters from across the State who have also vowed to stop at nothing to ensure that not only the Governorship Candidate, Wike but all other PDP candidates win the February general elections.

With Hon. Michael-West's unalloyed support and collapsing of his structure into Wike's, our structure is strengthened and we are double sure of landslide victory in the State for President Goodluck Jonathan, Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike and the PDP generally.

While reassuring all our members and supporters of equity and justice in all our dealings, we also enjoin others still on the fence to come over so that together we will rebuild our State for the welfare of all,” the State PDP Chairman declared.
