Governorship Aspirant Pledges to Address Banana Farm Issues in Ogoni

By Alliance Ogoni-Andoni

Governorship aspirant in Rivers State under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Engr. Sampson Ngerebara has pledged to address the social and negative implications of the banana farm cited in Ogoniland.

Ngerebara spoke yesterday in Port Harcourt while addressing party faithfuls from Ogoni.

He used the occasion to commend Ogoni Christians who teamed up with him in a long prayer programme that has seen God's intervention in the intermittent and consistent crises between the Andonis and their Ogoni neighbors.

"We are happy that 20years later, what was turning into a regular and predictable crises has now been overcome through the power of unity, prayer and sacrifice by Christians. I will continue to support the Christian community to sustain the cordial relationship. Remember that between the conflict the Andonis and Ogonis occurred in 1973, 1983,and 1993. It is now over 20years since the last one occurred" Ngerebara said yesterday.

Ngerebara called for stronger ties and cooperation between the Ogonis and Andonis noting that the development of the two regions are intertwined.

The PDP governorship aspirant urged Ogonis to overcome the past and forge ahead progressively from the era when enemies of development sold lies to them and got them to misconstrue a friend (himself) for an enemy.
