…Ruling Party Hails President 's Transformation Agenda

SAN FRANCISCO, August 27, (THEWILL) - President Goodluck Jonathan Wednesday met for several hours at the Presidential Villa Abuja with the chieftains of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), some Ministers and members of the National Assembly.

The meeting which held immediately after the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting was attended mainly by the PDP officials, Governor Ibrahim Dankwabo of Gombe State, Secretary of the Government of the Federation, SGF and Ministers amongst others.

The ruling party, at the end of the meeting, passed a vote of confidence in President Jonathan's Economic Transformation Agenda.

PDP National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, who spoke with newsmen at the end of the meeting, disclosed that the meeting was part of the regular interface between the party's Executive and the Legislature.

“There was a meeting between FEC members, the NWC members and the leadership of the National Assembly PDP caucus. The meeting discussed a lot of issues, the most important issues being the interface between the executive, the legislature and the party,” Metuh said.

He listed some decisions reached at the meeting to include the need for a strategy to promote and publicise the ideals of the achievements of the Transformation Agenda of the government and to ensure that PDP continues to gain the confidence of Nigerians.

According to Metuh, the PDP being “the only party that promotes the unity and progress of Nigeria that covers all national interest, we want to ensure that our people will continue to have faith in the party.”

He also announced the setting up of ” a small committee to continue to dialogue and promote these ideals.”

Metuh also disclosed that key issues such as the Adamawa governorship election was the exclusive preserve of the party's NWC, saying “this body is known to the constitution of the party to discuss such matters.”
