Stop Insulting Ogonis - MOSOP Tell Rivers State Government

By MOSOP Media

The Kingdom Coordinators Forum of the Movement for the Survival of the Ogoni People (MOSOP) has called on the Rivers State government to desist from using insulting languages against the Ogoni people.

Chairman of the MOSOP Kingdom Coordinators Forum, Frank Jonah made the call today in reaction to a comment made by a director in the Rivers State Ministry of Environment Mr Charles George.

Mr. George during a visit to Bera community in Gokana Local Government Area accused the Ogoni people of polluting their environment.

The MOSOP leader said it is now becoming clear why the Rivers State Government had been desperate to kill the Ogoni people using all kinds of antics.

Frank described the statement by Mr. George as regrettable noting that the comments by Mr George shows that the Rivers State Government has not come to terms with the reality that the Shell Petroleum Development Company in Nigeria had been irresponsible in its operations in Ogoniland since 1958.

Frank called for an apology from the government over the comment.
