Impeachment: Acting Chief Judge Constitutes Committee To Investigate Nyako, Deputy

BEVERLY HILLS, CA, July 04, (THEWILL) - The impeachment proceedings instituted by the Adamawa State House of Assembly against the embattled Governor of the State, Mr. Murtala Nyako and his deputy, Mr. Bala James Ngillari, gained momentum Friday with the constitution of a 7-member committee by the Acting Chief Judge of Adamawa State, Justice Ambrose Mammadi, to investigate allegations of gross misconduct and misappropriation pressed against them.

The Chief Registrar of the Yola High Court, Mr. Abubakar Babayola, who announced the development on behalf of the Acting Chief Judge, said Justice Mammadi acted on the powers conferred on him by the 1999 constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.

The committee members are Buba Kaigama (Chairman), Laraba Hassan, Saadu Lawan, Gapsiso Eston, Joshua Abu, Njida Kito and Eston Binano.

The committee is scheduled to be inaugurated on Monday and would begin the proceedings immediately.

Governor Nyako was one of the five aggrieved governors of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that defected to the All Progressives party (APC) some months back.
