BEVERLY HILLS, CA, June 23, (THEWILL) – The Speaker of the House of Representatives and Nigeria's number 4 citizen, Rt. Honourable Aminu Waziri Tambuwal was humiliated and harassed on Monday when soldiers at the Hotel 17, Kaduna, venue of the international conference on security hosted by the office of the National Security Adviser, insisted on searching his official vehicle before he is allowed entry into the conference.

Even though the Speaker's security detail protested the decision, the soldiers insisted that his staff car must be searched before it is allowed into the premises of the hotel.

THEWILL gathered that Tambuwal who was angered by the treatment walked out of his official car and strolled into the venue.

Tambuwal, a member of the ruling PDP is believed to be sympathetic to the opposition party (APC).

However, Tambuwal's spokesman, Imam Imam told journalists that soldiers have undermined the legislative arm of government.

'What they are doing is undermining the legislature as a whole. It is not about the Speaker but the institution. What we expect is for the security agents to show respect for the office of the Number 4 citizen of the country,' the spokesman said.

The theme of the conference is 'The role of pastoralists in preventing insurgency and conflicts for sustainable peace and national security.'
