Another Bomb Blast Foiled In Kano
…As Police Uncover Explosives-laden Vehicle
SAN FRANCISCO, May 19, (THEWILL) â€' Coming just a day after a suicide bomber rocked the northern city of Kano, unleashing a devastating attack on the Sabongari area , the Kano State Police Command Monday averted another deadly attack as a vehicle laden with explosives already primed for a suicide mission was uncovered in the city.
The suicide bomber on the latest deadly mission was said to have missed his target, a newly-opened hotel, at the Tafawa Balewa Road in the Nasarawa Quarters of the town.
The Commissioner, Kano State Police Command, Mr. Aderenle Shinaba, while confirming the incident, listed items recovered from the vehicle after it was abandoned to include two gas cylinder, a jerry can of fuel and assorted wires .
Shinaba said the suicide bomber may have abandoned the vehicle after a failed mission .
The Police chief, who also confirmed that the Sunday bombing claimed five lives while seven others sustained various degrees of injury, said four out of the injured in the Sunday attack been discharged from the hospital after being treated.
But a resident of the area faulted the casualty figure released by the Police, telling THEWILL that nine persons died in the bomb explosion.
