As the 2015 general elections approaches, the former military Head of State, General IbrahimĀ  Babangida (rtd), has called on the politicians to play according to the rules of the game, adding that in every election, there must be a winner and a looser.

Babangida made his view known at the presentation of books on Islamic religion, written by the Director General of the National Teachers' Institute (NTI), Dr. Aminu Ladan Sharehu, yesterday, in Kaduna.

He saidĀ  only one winner would emerge in any electoral contest, adding that politicians must learn to be good losers and accept defeat with grace and prepare for another race in future instead of becoming bitter and acrimonious. elections gather momentum, an overheated polity would produce nothing other than chaos and anarchy in the land.

'I wish to advise politicians to be careful and responsible as they start their campaign train, Nigerians deserve nothing less than the dividend of democracy that will grant minimum comfort for better quality life.

'This is what is required to take the youths off the streets, restore the confidence of the disenchanted and provide succor to the poverty stricken masses of this country. This is what is needed to check the menace perpetrated by militants and Boko Haram insurgency,' Babangida said.
