Shinkafi signs appropriation bill into law

The Zamfara State governor, Aliyu Shinkafi, has signed the state's appropriation bill of N67.9 billion into law.

Assenting to the bill on Wednesday in Gusau, Mr. Shinkafi expressed the hope that the state government will surpass the 75 per cent level of implementation recorded in the 2009 budget.

The governor sent to the state Assembly for consideration, a budget proposal of N73.6 billion, comprising a capital expenditure of N37.9 billion and a recurrent expenditure of N35.9 billion.

The Speaker of the Zamfara Assembly, Bature Umar Sambo, said that the House sliced the estimates by N6.51 billion. And that the 2010 Appropriation Law now stands at N67.9 billion, with N29.9 billion for capital expenditure and N37.1 billion for recurrent costs.
