By The Citizen

Former first lady, Turai Yar'Adua, yesterday said that the late president Umaru Musa Yar'Adua was passionate about the peace, unity and corporate existence of the Nigerian nation.

Speaking at the 2nd Yar'Adua Memorial Lecture, organised to honour the late president, Hajiya Turai maintained that her husband was 'a practical leader who wanted peace in the entire country.'

Hajiya Turai said, 'Umar may mean different things to different people but, to me, he was a humble, loving and caring husband with an unmatched love for the nation.'

She, however, urged Nigerians to pray for the immediate rescue to abducted Chibok girls and for continuous peace and unity in the entire nation.

Earlier in a memorial lecture entitled: 'An Evaluation and Contributions of Governor Umaru Musa Yar'Adua's Educational Development in Katsina State', Professor Munzali Jibril described the late Yar'Adua  as an epitome of humility.

The don noted that Yar'Adua was endowed with honesty, sincerity and deliberately avoided  the trappings of power.

Our correspondent reports that there was as rain of tributes as scores of personalities who spoke during the memorial lecture extolled the virtues of the late President Yar'Adua.
