First Lady Commiserates with FCT Minister -Extols Virtues of His Late Brother

By The Citizen

The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dame (Dr.) Patience Faka Jonathan, has described late Malam Yusuf Mohammed, elder brother of the FCT Minister,

Senator Bala Mohammed,  as a seasoned administrator and educationist who was the epitome of humility and integrity. The First Lady made this statement today, 16/02/2014, when she paid a condolence visit to the FCT Minister in his official residence in Abuja.

Dame Jonathan lamented that Malam Mohammed died when his experience and wise counsel  was needed most, especially by the people of  Duguri, in Alkaleri Local Government Area (LGA) of Bauchi State where he was the District  Head.

In condoling the FCT Minister and members of his family, the First Lady said 'Your family and my family are one. Whatever happens to you happens to us.'

While urging Senator Mohammed to take heart, she  prayed for the Almighty to fill the vacuum that the death  of Malam Yusuf had created, stating philosophically that, 'We cannot question God, but we must pray for the soul of the departed to rest in perfect peace with his creator.'

Speaking earlier, the Minister expressed appreciation to the First Lady, describing her as a true mother of all. He remarked that he was deeply touched by her demonstration of concern through her condolence letter, words of commiseration, as well as the condolence visit.

He described as 'mischievous,' media reports that the First Lady was not in Nigeria on account of ill-health and concluded his remarks by thanking  Dame Jonathan for her quality of leadership which he said, served as a model.
