Market capitalisation dropped marginally by 0.27 per cent

Activities on the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) on Thursday close lower as the market capitalisation dropped marginally by 0.27 per cent.

The market capitalisation depreciated by N36 billion to close at N13.067 trillion in contrast to N13.103 trillion achieved on Wednesday.

The All-Share Index, which opened at 40,878.71, decreased by 112.55 points or 0.027 per cent to close at 40,766.16.

Analysis of the price movement indicated that Nestle led the losers’ table with a loss of N10 to close at N1,140 per share. It was followed by Mobil with a loss of N1.80 to close at N122 per share.

UACN dipped N1 to close at N67, while Lafarge Wapco lost 90k to close at N108 per share.

On the other hand, Guinness came first on the gainers’ chart, with a gain of 40k to close at N219.40 per share.

CCNN came second, gaining 32k to close at N10.72 per share.

Ashaka Cement appreciated by 28k to close at N19.48, while Neimeth rose by 20k to close at N2.27 per share.

The volume of shares traded increased 4.29 per cent as a total of 261.840 million shares worth N2.7 billion were exchanged by investors in 4,700 deals.

Halmark Insurance was the toast of investors, recording 65 million shares valued at N32.50 million exchanged by investors in one deal.

Access Bank trailed, accounting for 17.82 million shares worth N163.75 million in 167 deals.

Transcorp accounted for 17.60 million shares worth N73.11 million transacted by investors in 261 deals, while Zenith Bank sold 17.55 million shares valued at N403.77 million in 229 deals.
