A former Managing Director of the defunct Sketch Newspapers, Chief Sola Oyegbemi at the week-end led thousands of members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Accord Party  in Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State to join the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).

The defecting party faithful were received by the state Governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi and the Chairman of APC in the state, Chief Akin Oke at the popular Olomi Central Market, Ibadan.

Governor Ajimobi, while receiving the new members into APC fold, called on them to work in harmony with other members for the success of the party in future elections.

He also assured new members of proper integration into the APC fold, with a promise that dividends of democracy would be extended to all and sundry.

Governor Ajimobi also promised the rehabilitation of Olomi-Ayegun Road which has been neglected by the previous administration among other life transforming projects for the people of the council area.

In his remarks, Chief Oke advised all members to go back to their respective wards for aggressive mobilization of members.

He described the defection of Accord Party and PDP members to APC as a motivation for the members to work harder for the success of the party.

In their separate responses, some of the defectors who included a former chairman of Oluyole Local  Government, Alhaji Lukman Olanrewaju, PDP councillors and supervisory councilors, commended Governor Abiola Ajimobi for his transformation agenda, which, according to them, was the motivating factor for their joining APC.

They promised to work together with other members of APC to ensure the success of the party in the 2015 general elections in the state.
