Northern govs to confront Sambo over PDP posts

By The Rainbow

Governors elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party from the North are set for a showdown with Vice-President Namadi Sambo over the sharing of two senior party offices allotted to the region, THE PUNCH has reported.

The governors are angry that the VP had put his cronies in juicy positions meant for the region, especially those for the North-West and North-East.

For example, the governors are angry that Sambo put his cronies in the offices of the National Organising Secretary and Treasurer in the PDP National Working Committee.

The two occupiers of the offices, Abubakar Mustapha and Bala Kaoje respectively, were said to have been imposed on the party by the vice-president.

While Mustapha is from Kaduna, Kaoje hails from Kebbi State.

However, the directive from the leadership of the party that all those whose election at the party's convention were queried by the Independent National Electoral Commission should resign has made the aggrieved governors to renew their anger against the vice-president.

One of the governors from the zone told the newspaper  on Friday that it would be difficult for the two nominees of the vice-president to return to their offices.

He said, 'We won't sit and allow the vice-president to take all the positions and make us redundant in our zone.
