Oyo PDP Crisis: Akala heads for court
Ibadan Thu. Feb. 18, 2010 African Examiner -Desperate to secure the second term ticket
of the PDP party and consequently maintain control over party executives, Governor
Adebayo Alao has sued the National chairman of the PDP, Vincent Ogbulafor over moves
by the party's hierarchy to dissolve the state executives.
The control over the party executives was sequel to the battle between the state
governor and the political camp of the former governor Rashidi Ladoja over the illegality
of the composition of the state executives' council of the party.
The State Governor, Adebayo Alao-Akala whose camp was not favourably disposed to
the move by party's national leadership to inaugurate a new caretaker committee to be
headed by Alhaji Yunus Akintunde, a loyalist of former Governor Rashidi Ladoja took the
matter before the state High Court in Ibadan.
Governor Akala's faction has fingered PDP national chairman Chief Ogbulafor and Sen.
Nwachukwu as having hands in the protracted crisis plaguing Oyo PDP.
