SAN FRANCISCO, April 17, (THEWILL) - Deltans have been urged to uphold unity in diversity, as the needed virtue capable of engendering socio-political and economic advancement within the state, even in the face of agitations for political relevance.

Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon (Engr.) Victor Ochei FMSE, FIAS made the call recently when the leadership of the Anioma Agenda, an ethno-political group paid him a consultative visit in Asaba.

According to him ‘’the geographical entity Delta was not a mistaken contraption but, one of divine creation which, with cooperation will encourage seamless peaceful coexistence, a necessary ingredient in societal development.

He also counselled the group on the imperatives of a focused demand for an Anioma Governor in 2015, which according to him is an inalienable right, based on the conventional tripod arrangement in which the Central and South Senatorial zones have produced governors, a development that will justify equity and fairness in any given polity.

Earlier, the chairman of the group, Barrister Alex Onwudiamu revealed that group’s visit revolves around two key issues of, congratulating the Speaker on the dynamic leadership qualities he has exhibited in running the affairs of the Legislature so far and to seek his support as a strategic stakeholder in ensuring that gubernatorial hopefuls of Delta North extraction should be ready to subsume their personal ambition for the overall group interest of the Anioma Nation at the material time in their quest for the governorship position in Delta State in 2015.

The Chairman equally enjoined other senatorial zones not to impose a difficult political burden on the Anioma Political Class, maintaining that “the Anioma’s are capable of coming up with one consensus candidate in 2015”.
