Statement by High Representative Catherine Ashton on the terrorist attack in Algeria

BRUSSELS, Kingdom of Belgium, January 21, 2013/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the Commission issued the following statement today:

"On behalf of the EU 27, I express my sympathy to the families of the victims of the terrorist attack at the gas plant at In Amenas in Algeria.

I express my support for the Algerian authorities and the governments of those killed and injured.

These events show once again the threat posed by violent extremist groups in %orth Africa and throughout the world. We will continue to work closely with our international partners to combat terrorism."
