FG APPROVES 24-HOUR FLIGHT OPERATIONS FOR IBOM AIRPORT

http://www.nigerianbestforum.com/blog/?attachment_id=122436 The Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) has approved 24 hours   flight operations for the Akwa Ibom State International Airport.

This was made known yesterday in Uyo by the managing director of the agency, Mr Namdi Udo, when he paid a courtesy visit to the state governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio, at the Government House.

Udo told the governor that more air control tower personnel would soon be posted to the state to aid smooth flight operations under the new arrangement.

Udo, who commended Akpabio for his developmental stride in the state especially in the area of aviation said that NAMA was committed to the safety of Nigeria's  air space and would leave no stone unturned in assisting the Ibom International Airport in its onerous task of providing quality service.

Meanwhile, the state government and the Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the training of air traffic control cadets at different airports in the country.

Governor Godswill Akpabio signed on behalf of the state government, while Mr Udo, signed for NAMA during the courtesy visit.

Akpabio commended NAMA for signing the MoU and urged air traffic control cadets from the state to be diligent in their assignment.

He intimated the managing director of NAMA that his administration has expanded the apron at the Ibom International Airport and also on the verge of completing the Maintenance Repairs and Overhaul  (MRO) facility at the Airport.
