CHUKWUEMEKA RUBBISHES PAST NPL BOARD

By NBF News

http://www.nigerianbestforum.com/blog/?attachment_id=122103 ABS general manager, Alloy Chukwuemeka has told supersport.com that the immediate past Nigeria Premier League (NPL) board deserved to be thrown out.

The past Premier League board chaired by Victor Rumson Baribote was impeached out of office by 19 clubs during their congress in Abuja in December.

Chukwuemeka believes the decision by the NPL clubs was spot on, as the board had inflicted 'internal injuries' on their finances.

The ABS official also made it clear that the removal of the Premier League board was not 'a personal fight rather a revolution aimed at sanitising a bad system.'

'You can wear the best clothes to cover your body but it won't cure your inner sickness. Our league suffered internal injuries while we window-dressed it in the eyes of the public.

'Yes the internal injuries we suffered were the reasons the board was sacked not because of him (Baribote) personally. After all he had earlier stepped aside before their sack, that showed that it wasn't a personal fight rather a revolution aimed at sanitising a bad system,' said Chukwuemeka.

Chukwuemeka also dismissed claims by Baribote that the Nigerian sports minister, Bolaji Abdullahi influenced the clubs to sack his board.

He added that the club found compelling reasons to remove Baribote and his board, while 'he (Baribote) is yet to defend any of allegations raised against his board.'

'I don't believe clubs betrayed him because they gave reasons they removed him and up till now he is yet to defend any of the allegations raised against his board. The minister is not a member of the congress that removed the board,' said Chukwuemeka.

The Premier League is now under the administration of a 13-man Interim Management Committee (IMC) following the dissolution of the last board.
