World Cup: FIFA investigates alleged Al Qaeda threat against US, England Match

World football governing body FIFA is set to investigate the source of threats report

ahead of England match against The United States at this year's world cup in South

Africa.
FIFA secretary general Jerome Valcke said the body was taking the threat seriously

and emphasized that every precaution would be taken to ensure fans safety .

Valcke also noted that the competition would not be taken from hosts South Africa

because of the threat . '' We have freedom in the world to celebrate what we want,

we will not stop the organization of the world cup because we got threat '' said

Valcke .
An Algeria-based cell, claiming to be a branch of terrorist group Al Qaeda, said it

would strike on 12 June the day of the group C match between England and USA in

Rustenberg .
The group said it will use a form of undetectable explosive that will evade security

checkpoints . The threats were made on what claims to be the jihadist online

magazine of the North African terror group al-Qaeda in the Islamic maghreb .

Meanwhile, the South African Police are insisting that their security plans are

adequate despite the threats.
