Ahead of Tuesday's UEFA Champions League final group match with FC Barcelona of Spain, Obafemi Martins and his pals from Rubin Kazan of Russia are already in the Spanish city of their opponents.

The Weapon of Mass Destruction shook off a bout with flu early enough to meet up with the final training session of his club and was included in the squad that travelled last Thursday evening for early acclimatization ahead of the December 7 encounter at Nou Camp.

Apart from Martins, three other foreign players who were absent when Kazan was awarded the Russian Premier League bronze medal – Gekdeniz Karadeniz of Turkey, Carlos Eduardo of Brazil and Salvatore Bokketti of Italy – all rejoined the side for the trip to Spain.

Added information on Oba's early arrival in Spain revealed that the host has already given Kazan access to the Nou Camp pitch and the visitors from Russia started practising straight away, while also making plans for extra training in the arena of Barca's city mates, Espanyol.

Theoretically, Rubin has a chance of progressing to the knock out stage if it could upset Barca in front of its teeming fans, but Martins and his teammates will also have to hope that FC Copenhagen of Denmark lose to Panathiniakos of Greece.
