Brazil Forward Handed Two-year Ban For Doping Test Failure

Brazil forward, Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa has been given a two-year ban for ‘attempted fraud’ in a doping case.

The forward was found guilty of attempting to manipulate the doping test at the Flamengo training camp on April 8, 2023.

While all his teammates completed the doping tests before their 10am session, Gabigol was accused of ‘obstructing’ the officials performing the tests.

He failed to comply with the procedures, went for lunch instead, handed over the vessel of the urine sample open and then told officials this would be his ‘final’ doping test.

The ban will run till April 2025, as it runs for two years from the date of the incident.
