Manchester United are edging closer towards completing the signing of Paris Saint-Germain star Zlatan Ibrahimovic. The Red Devils will bolster their strike force for the next season with the arrival of the Swedish international striker.

According to the French publication L’Equipe , the 34-year-old has set his sights on joining the 20-time English champions. Earlier in February, he hinted that a move to the Premier League could be on the cards following the completion of the 2015/16 season.

Ibrahimovic’s move to Old Trafford was boosted by the news that Jose Mourinho will be taking over the United job. The English giants currently have Louis van Gaal as their manager and the Dutchman guided his side to the FA Cup triumph after beating Crystal Palace 2-1 in the final at Wembley.

Van Gaal still has one year left on his contract, but United’s executive chairman Ed Woodward has decided to allow him to leave and replace him with the Portuguese tactician, reports the BBC . The potential arrival of the ex-manager of Chelsea at Old Trafford has convinced PSG’s goal-scoring machine to choose the Red Devils.

The Swede has already informed his agent, Mino Raiola that he wants his move to England sorted out before the start of the European championship. Ibrahimovic will lead his national side in the Euro 2016 in France, which will kick-start on 10 June.

His contract with the Ligue 1 winners will expire in June and he has already expressed his desire to leave the French outfit as a free agent in the summer. The frontman had been attracting interest from several clubs from across the globe and he has now decided to join the Old Trafford club.

The former Barcelona and Inter Milan striker scored a brace for his side as PSG went on to beat Marseille 4-2 in the French cup final. That was his last game in a PSG shirt and with that he finished the season with 50 goals in all competitions, out of which 38 were scored in 31 Ligue appearances.
