Andre Villas-Boas has admitted he found Chelsea’s sacking of Jose Mourinho “incredible”.

Mourinho was sacked for a second time by Chelsea last month after a poor start to the season – despite having led them to the 2015 Premier League title.

And Villas-Boas, who was himself fired by Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich in 2012, says the sacking of his fellow Portuguese continued a well-worn theme.

“Abramovich has sacked basically every coach that he’s had”, Villas Boas told BeIN Sports. “It’s been quite incredible to see that it (being dismissed) was applied to everybody.

“It was applied to probably their dearest coach, their most successful coach, so in the end we have seen nothing different. Roman has sacked basically every coach that he has had.

“It’s no different. It happened even to the best. The same criteria that he has applied to me, for Rafa Benitez, for all the other coaches, Ancelotti, he has applied to Jose as well.”

Villas-Boas, who also managed Tottenham following his spell at Chelsea, is currently in charge of Zenit St Petersburg but will leave the Russian club at the end of the season.
